Dr Dee McDonald

Senior Lecturer

School of People, Environment and Planning

Dee has a background in law and biosecurity management, having worked in private practice and across the wider government sector in Aotearoa New Zealand. The main focus of her research is biosecuring agricultural and human assemblages. She is broadly interested in biosecurity and conservation values, biodiversity and climate change issues and environmental law. She has written articles and book chapters on the topic of Aotearoa’s biosecurity and on environmental security more broadly.

Project Title: Farming within more than human worlds: Exploring the materialities of managing foot and mouth disease

This MURF funded pilot project aims to explore interrelationships between biosecurity and farming assemblages as a first step in preparing a larger research project into Aotearoa’s preparedness for Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD).
