This project seeks to provide practical exemplars of the role that the tane had in society, focusing on hap奴tanga and early parenting. It embraces the male and female essences and asserts the need to enhance mana tangata, and importantly mana wh膩nau, grounded in M膩ori concepts and approaches. I seek to connect t膩ne to these roles, with hap奴tanga as a critical time when t膩ne can become pou, knowing when to step forward, when to step back and when to stand strong. These connections are often sidelined but can strengthen whanau beyond pregnancy and birth and provide ways of t膩ne being t膩ne who nurture uri within their whanau and hap奴.
