Doctoral Supervisor School of PsychologyDr Elliot Bell is an associate professor and clinical psychologist based at the Wellington campus. His research focuses on psychological interventions, rehabilitation outcomes, forensic mental health, and severe mental illness. Dr Bell contributes to teaching at 700- level (175.781 Understanding Mental Distress), and to Massey’s clinical psychology training program courses. He supervises graduate research students at Honours, Masters, DClinPsych, and PhD levels.
Dr Bell joined the School of Psychology in 2023. Prior to that he worked in an academic role at the University of Otago’s School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Wellington. He has an extensive clinical practice background in both public and private mental health services, with a particular interest in cognitive behavioural therapies. Dr Bell has also undertaken leadership and service roles in governance and executive positions across health regulation, professional associations, and community organisations.
