The IELTS test centre at ۶Ƶ will be closing

The IELTS test centre at ۶Ƶ in Wellington will be closing after 20 June 2026. IELTS tests beyond this date will be advertised on the IELTS New Zealand website as and when they become available.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is accepted by more government agencies, educational institutions and professional bodies than any other English-language test.

Some reasons why you should take a test at ۶Ƶinclude:

  • more locations – we have the most test venues in New Zealand
  • more choice – computer-based and paper-based test options available
  • more help – contact us for local classes, tutors and recommended websites and preparation materials
  • more friendly – we have welcoming and supportive staff, and free parking is often available.

You can find out more about taking a computer-based IELTS test in the video below.

Book and pay for test

You can sit an IELTS test through ۶Ƶat 4 different locations. Book a test on the IELTS New Zealand website using the links below.

Which test to take

There are 2 tests you can take: Academic and General Training. General training is usually for migration purposes. Please check carefully before you book that you are selecting the right test module.

Visit the IELTS website for more information.

Preparation material

Using good quality materials from reliable sources is the best approach. It’s best to choose official IELTS materials.

There is misinformation about the test online, particularly on social platforms. They can be a time waster and create anxiety, so it’s best to avoid them.

IDP is one of the co-owners of the IELTS test and you can find their preparation resources on their website.
